GSP Fly Tying Thread
GSP Fly Tying Thread by Denier
GSP (gel-spun polyethylene) fly tying thread is valued for its high tensile strength relative to its denier, low bulk, low stretch and smooth surface. These properties help fly tyers secure materials with fewer wraps and maintain a clean thread profile.
Choose a denier based on the pattern and the amount of material you need to control. “Fine”, “Standard” and “Heavy” are practical guidance labels, not separate product families:
| Guidance | Denier range | Typical applications |
|---|---|---|
| Fine | 10D–30D | Micro flies, midges, small dry flies and compact bodies |
| Standard | 50D–75D | General-purpose dry flies, nymphs, emergers and streamers |
| Heavy | 100D–200D | Large streamers, predator and saltwater patterns, deer-hair work and bulky materials |
Most Wifreo GSP tying thread listings are sold as approximately 100m per spool. Select a product to see its available denier, colors and package format. Single-spool listings and color-set listings are labeled separately.
